弱冠19歳のトニー・ウイリアムスの第二作、「サム・リヴァース＝ゲイリー・ピーコック組」対「ハービー・ハンコック＝ウエイン・ショーター＝トニー・ウイリアムス」組という、マイルス・バンド対非マイルス・バンドの緊張関係の中、想像以上の素晴らしい内容が展開される。引き抜いたマイルスもマイルスだが、それに応えてしまったトニーの若き天才が輝く瞬間が綺羅星のように聞こえてくる。60年代における天才達の出現はジャズがこの時代における「感性」を引き連れていた証明だろう。
