This Is America

In reggae music circles, the year 2013 will be remembered as the return of Anthony Prophet and the fulfillment of his journey back to the love of his life; his roots-reggae music, a driving force which permeates his daily existence. As he values family above any earthly endeavors, Anthony took a several year hiatus from performing to care and provide for his mother and ailing father as a skilled automotive engineer in his own establishment. ?A man of deep faith, Anthony continued to write and perfect his musical skills, confident that he would once again have the opportunity to immerse himself in the music he loved so much. Even from a very early age, he was performing in local steelbands from his birthplace of Trinidad and Tobago, the first of which was a group consisting of nineteen members. When he migrated to America, he taught himself to play the guitar, congas, and harmonica. He performed with several reggae bands and would open for international groups like Burning Spear, Yellow Man, Moja Naya, Roots Radics and Dennis Brown as they came though America. Sensing the time was right and with encouragement from good friend David 'Dread' Hinds of 'SteelPulse', Anthony was back in the studio. ?His latest CD titled 'This Is America' marks the second album of unique original material with carefully crafted lyrics and vocals by Anthony. Colorful, beat-driven music tracks written and arranged by New Jersey based producer Gary Bellucci round out this powerful collection of eleven radio-ready gems destined to become sought-after additions to music collections everywhere. This CD draws it's flavor from the culture and rhythms of roots-reggae and follows in the musical footsteps of Steelpulse, Aswad, Morgan Heritage and Bob Marley.
