When Shadows Fall

On this album, we've explored the more popular forms of songs being recorded at the same time as our favorite old-time rural singers and performers. We take into account the influence of Hawaiian-style music as it became absorbed into American popular music in the early 20th century, relying on the Dobro to give us the sound of the records of Jimmie Rodgers and Gene Autry, for example. Ann also provides fiddle tunes from the repertoire of performers such as Doc Roberts and Da Costa Woltz's Southern Broadcasters. It is a labor of love and the result of countless hours of listening to 78s and other old recordings, and collecting and reading through the original sheet music for the songs wherever we could find it.
