第二期クリムゾンがバンドとして個人的に面白いと思うのは、結局、ブルース志向の強いリズム隊＋メル・コリンズがいたからで、その３人が揃ってクリムゾンを脱退し、アレクシス・コナーと結成したバンドのライヴ盤がこれ。この３人が紡ぎ出すケミストリーを偏愛する自分としては、ギターがフリップだろうが、アレクシス・コナーだろうが関係なく、これも「ほとんど第二期クリムゾン」として違和感なく聴く。ここでも主役を張るのはメルであり、クリムゾン時代以上にフリーキーに吹きまくっている。この時代のメルはまさにキャリアのピーク。鬼神のごときパフォーマンスはロック界最高の吹奏楽器プレイヤーだ。第二期クリムゾンが好きな人は必聴の一枚！
