007/You Only Live Twice Digital Remaster Version

After working his way up through the SPECTRE chain of command in the previous films, Bond finally gets to meet Number 1, Ernst Stavro Blofeld, in "You Only Live Twice". It's another iconic movie from a series which at that point could do no wrong. Crowds thronged the box offices of the world, eager to see the latest adventures of Sean Connery, agent James Bond 007.

"You Only Live Twice" doesn't disappoint. Set mostly in Japan, it features some mind-blowing action - at one point a car full of thugs is picked up by a helicopter using a magnet and dropped into the ocean. It also shows a real understanding of Japanese culture - though of course all the Japanese women instantly fall in love with Bond.

The there's that volcanic base. Never really outdone in successive movies, the huge set is truly amazing, and also provides us with that iconic image of ninjas abseiling down from the crater to do battle with Blofeld's henchmen. The space sequences too are very well done for a movie from 1967.

As Blofeld himself, reliable old ham Donald Pleasance is clearly having the time of his life. Stroking his cat and dropping people into his pond full of piranhas, he's a figure that any fan of Dr Evil will easily recognise...

This new Ultimate Edition has a totally remastered picture and new 5.1 DTS sound. It combines the features and director's commentary from the previous release with a bewildering array of new documentaries. An essential purchase for the true Bond fan.
