007/Thunderball Digital Remaster Version

Sean Connery's fourth outing as Fleming's James Bond, "Thunderball" was a more expensive movie than ever before. It shows on the screen, as this time we travel to Nassau for some truly amazing underwater sequences. We also see villain Largo using the staple of the Bond baddie - he has a swimming pool full of sharks. And Bond has to swim through them!

The gadgets continue to improve this time too; the Aston Martin is back, now with a bullet shield and an oil slick emitter. There's also a tiny underwater breathing tank which the Royal Navy were very interested in until told it wasn't real! Top gadget of the film, though, has to be the jetpack Connery uses to make a getaway in the pre-credits sequence.

There are some amazing stunts as SPECTRE's Number 2 Largo (a thickly accented Adolfo Celi) arranges to have a Vulcan bomber landed on the seabed. This leads to some complex underwater fight sequences, and ultimately a chase with Largo's superpowered yacht/hydrofoil.

Bond girl this time round is Claudine Auger's Domino, the twist being that she's Largo's ward, and he keeps an eye on her. Not that that stops Connery; harpooning one of Largo's thugs to a tree, he comments "I think he got the point."

This new Ultimate Edition has a totally remastered picture and new 5.1 DTS sound. It combines the features and director's commentary from the previous release with a bewildering array of new documentaries. An essential purchase for the true Bond fan.
