どの短編も素晴らしく、心に響く作品です。「ささやかだけれど、役にたつこと」「大聖堂」など、大好きな作品がつまっています。短編だからこそ、書けるものがあるんだと、実感したのはレイモンド・カーヴァーに出会ってからです。絶望と希望を強く感じました。
