Overtly influenced by bands like Yes and Genesis, Transatlantic is a prog-rock supergroup formed in the summer of 1999 as a side project for Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy, Spock's Beard vocalist Neal Morse, Flower Kings guitarist Roine Stolt, and Marillion bass player Pete Trewavas. This release presents a double feature of Transatlantic programs: BUILDING THE BRIDGE documents the making of the band's 2001 album, BRIDGE ACROSS FOREVER; while LIVE IN AMERICA captures them in concert with a June 2000 performance in Philadelphia.
