トッド・ラングレンは1948年6月22日、米ペンシルヴァニア州フィラデルフィアのアッパーダーヴィに生まれた。トッドは4歳の頃から家にあったピアノを弾き始めたと語っているが、一方で少年時代はひどく個人主義的な傾向を持ち問題児でもあったという。
