当時NMEでも高い評価を受けているが、好きじゃない。２度目の来日ライブは曲がこのアルバム中心だったが、前座のモッズに食われていた気がする。ギフトへの過度期といことでパワーを失っている。

Sound Affects may be the Jam’s finest hour, and deserves reappraisal. While All Mod Cons is often cited as their masterpiece, there is no disputing the strength of this record, the high point of which has to be That’s Entertainment. The album reveals a more exploratory Paul Weller, moving away from the obvious mod/punk template of the group’s earlier recordings.
