1949年生まれ。エイリアン・プロジェクトというバンドでプロの音楽活動をスタートし、1977年ジャーニーに新ヴォーカリストとして加入。『Escape』（1981『Frontiers』（1983）などメガヒットを生み出す原動力となった。

本作はグループ活動と並行して制作された自身初のソロ・アルバム。当時の恋人のことを歌ったラヴソング「Oh Sherrie」（全米3位）をはじめ、ジャーニーとは異なるポップな楽曲を多く収録している。録音にはマイケル・ランドウ(g)、ワディ・ワクテル(g)、ボブ・グラウブ(b)など西海岸の一流スタジオ・ミュージシャンたちが参加。2006年の再発時に5曲のボーナス・トラックを追加収録。（オリジナル：1984年作品）
