Product Description

The Soft Machine were one of the darlings of the London Underground scene in the late 60s. In 1969 the band performed at the famous Paradiso club in Amsterdam, and the line-up was Robert Wyatt, Mike Ratledge, and the former roadie Hugh Hopper. The songs on this set are derived from Volume 2, their sophomore album that had been recorded but yet to be released. We have remastered where possible to create the best audio experience of these historic performances.

ソフトマシーン2nd期のライブ音源。たった3人でこのテンションの高さはすごい。ヒュー・ホッパーの唸るようなファズ・ベースは必聴。こののちバンドはジャズ方面にシフトしていくが、この熱い演奏はこの時期でしか味わえない貴重な記録です。

なんといってもかっこいいアルバム。ラトリッジもホッパーもぐんぐんひずんでいてワイアットとからみあって圧倒的な勢いで向かってくる。最近のジャズバンドには少なくなってしまったあの勢いのある音を聞くと感動します。
