SlikSly 'The Awakening' Debut CD is an All Original Instrumental which combines that (In Your Face) style Slap Bass, along with soulful and explosive Rhythm and Lead Guitar. Each Song has it's own Story Behind It. SlikSly, Born and Raised in Trenton New Jersey, began playing guitar by ear at the age of 8 and was playing in local clubs by the age of 12. Coming from an era of Great Funk, Soul, and R&B His influences were: Earth Wind and Fire, Slave, Cameo, Stevie Wonder, The Brothers Johnson, Chaka Khan, Tina Marie, Rick James, Ohio Players, and Trenton's own Instant Funk. SlikSly has played on National TV, Cable Television and has contributed his talents to many Non-Profit Organizations, such as The Cancer-Walk of Syarcuse and The Salvation Army. There is only one song on the CD that has Lyrics which is Track #2.

An 80's style Funky Bass Pattern coupled with a Modern Day Hip-Hop 808 Kick, This Song is sure to get you off your feet and on to the Dance Floor. LGB Track 2: Never Let Them Down - This song was inspired by my friend Julie Finley's Daughter, Tori, who was wounded in a drive by shooting on Butternut St. in Syracuse. After Hearing the news I was not able to sleep that night and was compelled to write this positive Hip-Hop track . I was given the entire song in a dream and I believe it was divinely inspired. After more than 12hrs of working on each element of the song (bass,guitar,horns and vocals) it was ready for the studio. I performed the song at my daughter Ja'nea's school at a 'Say Yes' BBQ and this is where I recruited the Kids who are singing the powerful chorus 'Never Let Us Down' on the track. With the help of Vocalists - James Gaines, and Monique Moshaty the song was Mixed and Mastered By Emmett Van Slyke at Black Lagoon Production here in Syracuse NY. This Track is dedicated to the Youth of Syracuse. Track 3: 81 North. - This Song was written by Me and My Brother Walter Livingston Jr when we were 13 and 14yrs old. My brother got lost on Route 81 on his way to Syracuse to record the Bass track for the CD, hence the title for this track. Track 4: Oh So Real - This is a sensual instrumental R & B Original Targeted for Vocals in a Future Recording. Oh So Real Like my Beautiful Wife. Michelle. Track 5: Azahni - This is another Original written and arranged by me as a dedication to my Daughter Ibhana Azahni..it sounds as If My Bass is having a heart to heart conversation with her, listen to the bass solo on this track and you'll see what I mean. Track 6: Song For MJ - This is an Original Rock Style Guitar Tribute to The Late Great Michael Jackson. Wriiten and Arranged by me (Sliksly) a few days after his untimely Passing. RIP MJ. It's like my guitars are asking MJ why he had to leave us and if you listen closely at the end, it seems as if He ascends in Peace. Track 7: Bad Art - This is a Funky Blues in E-Minor. Dedicated to Pat McMurray owner of Mac's Bad Art Bar . targeted to be The Theme for his Radio Show and his Club 'Mac's Bad Art Bar' . Great Open Mics there in Mattydale NY.
