Shawna P puts the 'P' in Phunk! After one listen to her EarthFunk Muzik you'll understand why the Godfather of Funk, and Mr. P-Funk himself, George Clinton, labeled this soul sista 'The Long Lost Queen of Funk'. The song 'Sister Soul' is one of my favorites by Shawna P because we get a really good understanding of where her soulful and funky voice was nurtured. The vocal talent this woman delivers gave me chills and I became an instant fan. It doesn't hurt that the band is amazing and really holds down the 'fort' when it comes to adding that funky rock sound that gives Shawna P her overall completeness. Don't get it twisted, Shawna is not to be funked with when it comes to making great music; she truly is the Queen of Funk and lives up to that title flawlessly! Nearly every track on this project is exactly what I had hoped it would be...flat out awesome. Overall, Shawna P is a true soul singer whose vocal talent is extremely rare and very reminiscent of the late, great Teena Marie, mixed with the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. This is a living legend waiting to happen!
