当時の音楽シーンはブルースロックやハード...

当時の音楽シーンはブルースロックやハードロックが台頭してきた時代でウォーカーズ解散して何時しか忘れてしまいましたが、昨今は年齢のせいか静かなメロディーをよく聞くようになり以前に購入したウォーカーズ時代のスコットの歌うスタンダード曲を聞き改めて感動しました。当時はこんな曲今更歌うのかよ、と思っていましたが今聞くと”すばらしい”としか言いようありません。

As collections go, this one will do nicely. Scott Walker’s most accessible cuts from albums 1 to 4, plus some movie theme takes and a few surprises. Not as good as the Five Easy Pieces box--that would be the ideal collection--but a worthwhile dip into a sampling of genius.

ウォーカー・ブラザース時代を含め、フィリップスからリリースされたシングル＆ＬＰからのコレクション二枚組。スコットの歌唱力や表現力の豊かさ、オリジナル曲の質の高さ、カバー選曲のセンスの良さなどを改めて認識させられます。特にＣＤ２には、ＣＤ化されていない“ＢＢＣテレビショー”（3･8･10･13･15･19･23）“The Moviegore”(6･9･11･12･17･21･22）“Any Day Now”(1･2･7･16･18･20）からの数曲が収められておりファンにとっては垂涎ものと言えるでしょう。
