The familiar twang of a Telecaster on a sleepy Sunday morning mixed with Jonathon Oliver's throaty vocals welcome you into Riverside's eponymous debut album. This is pure American music- heartfelt, honest and handcrafted. You won't find any AutoTune on these songs. But you will find a connection to things we have experienced- love, loss and longing. Mix in familiar images of the open road and loneliness and you can almost feel the miles passing by. But for all of the rock-n-roll, Riverside is at their most stripped down in 'Singer,' a Nashville influenced closer, showing guitarist Brian Steffen stepping to the fore. Showing influence of bands as varied as Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Old Pike and Split Lip, this album is a great start. ~Eric Rayburn 'To me, Love, Loss and Highway Signs is a personal re-visiting. Each song is a cathartic retelling of places that I have stood, of people that I have known and loved. These stories from our lives are usually kept in the corners of our hearts and minds. As a songwriter, I've only ever hoped to bring mine to light and somehow pull the listener in and, hopefully, remind them of a pinnacle and gravitas moment in their own history.
