As a teen caught up in Detroit's most violent streets, Rick Dennis earned the nickname Ric-A-Che after being on the scene of countless fatal gun battles without receiving a scratch, as if the bullets could ricochet off him. However, too many of his friends died in these confrontations, leading Ric-A-Che to embrace the straight and narrow. While working low-paying odd jobs, he moonlighted as a rapper, and after years of working the clubs, Ric-A-Che caught the ear of label honcho Steve Rifkind.
Ric-A-Che's debut, LACK OF COMMUNICATION, reflects years of both living hard and honing his skills. On one end of the spectrum are the quick-fire "Belve" and the bassed-out "Lil' Bro," which have a bit of the Houston hip-hop flavor. On the other is the unparalleled single "Coo Coo Chee," with its nursery-rhyme refrain and ode to the innocent side of womanhood, sprinkled with sexuality and boasting a disarming hook.
