Thin Red Line is the second album of all-original material from the Northern California Central Valley band, Red Dog Ash. The group's signature harmonies and hot licks are refined on this effort, supporting carefully crafted lyrics that image California's histories, geographies, and people. From family demons to the beauty of the Sierra Nevada, from migrant workers to lost souls, from the strength of convictions to homespun gospel, the CD thematizes the turning points that reshape the landscapes of our lives. It also pays homage to the banjo greats of bluegrass music and showcases both the drive and sensitivity of bluegrass picking. Thin Red Line shows Red Dog Ash to be a strong, clear, and original sound on the contemporary bluegrass scene.
