70年代から80年代のロック黄金期に活躍した、様々なアーティストの廉価ボックスが発売されている昨今の状況は喜ばしい限り。クイーンも全てのアルバムを聴くに値するアーティストの一つ。このVol. 1に於いてはデビューからの５作品を堪能できる。デビュー時の荒々しさから成熟する過程を俯瞰できるのが、ベスト盤では味わえない醍醐味。「A Night at the Opera」が一つの頂点だが、その完成度の高さは永遠のもの。’39 やLove of My Life といった佳曲から Bohemian Rhapsody へ昇華し、God Save the Queen で締める構成は圧巻。オリジナルアルバムに加え、ボーナストラックが収録されたＣＤもファンには嬉しい。
