C.ルースの《ク・カ》はハワイの伝説上の戦いの神を表す。打楽器奏者の間では人気曲だが、この人の曲は確かに精緻なリズム構成やワールドミュージック的感覚がアメリカのジャジーな雰囲気に混じって、聴き手を楽しませてくれる。その他の収録曲もいかにもアメリカ的な選曲だが、演奏そのものはかなりの好演。恒常的な団体なのかどうか分からないが、このレベルなら更にもっと録音してほしいレパートリーがある。大いに期待したい。
