01年12月、“廃墟ドットコム”というインターネットサイトを見つけた女子高生・紀子は家を捨てて東京へ向かい、サイトで知り合ったクミコが組織する“レンタル家族”の一員となる。02年5月26日、新宿駅で女子高生54人が集団飛び込み自殺。この事件の謎と紀子の消息を解く鍵を“廃墟ドットコム”の中に見出した妹・ユカもまた姉を追うように東京へ家出。母・妙子は自殺し、父・徹三は、崩壊した家族のかけらをつなぎ止めようと“廃墟ドットコム”の存在を追うが…。
