平穏な日常生活を送っていた家庭に、長男の事故死、続いて次男の自殺未遂という事件が起きる。この出来事を契機に愛情と信頼によって固く結ばれていたはずの一家が、激しく揺り動かされ、目に見えない緊張が家の中を支配していく。そして、それぞれに苦悩を抱えた3人の関係は、しだいに噛み合わない歯車のようにぎくしゃくとしたものとなっていく。
