Mistakes Were Made

MK4 is a pop rock band for the emotionally challenged from San Francisco California. Their music falls in a land occupied by Weezer, The Hold Steady, and Jimmy Eat World. Their debut album Mistakes were Made was recorded with Rick Parker (The Shore,Black Rebel Motorcycle Club) and Jeff Shroeder (Smashing Pumpkins).

It will be released later this month but is available for download for free for a limited time on their Facebook page.

Band members are Paul Roybal, Daniel Nolan, and Britt Pennella (Blackboard Jungle). The title of their album Mistakes Were Made comes from the Jonathan Franzen book 'Freedom',which was a big influence on the album theme. While the album was being written one band member went through a divorce,one watched a ten year relationship dissolve and a former band member quit saying he couldn't bear going through writing another five songs at the grueling pace. Jeff Schroeder of Smashing Pumpkins wrote one song with the band as well as produced some of the album. He was a big help in evolving the sound of the guitars on the album as well as pushing Britt's songwriting and vocals. 'MK4 are cool,but not too cool' is how singer britt describes the band ethic.
