この辺りになるとマイルス５の演奏は侘び寂びを感じさせる所まで到達し、それは演奏のみならず曲の構成に至るまで「出す・引く」が絶妙の均衡を誇る。何せマイルスが演奏してない曲まであるが、演奏せずともマイルスの存在が明瞭に分かる。これは『アガルタ／パンゲア』に通じていて、つまり演奏・グループそのものが「マイルス」になっているのだ。その意味で電気はまだないが、後のエレクトリック時代の起点は実はこの作品ではないかと思う。ハービーはローズピアノであってもこういう演奏に違いない。次作『ネフェルティティ』とは姉妹盤。
