Effugit

For almost three decades I have been gathering piles of visual documentation regarding Makotron Unit including images, photos and iconography. The artwork in Effugit is inspired by a painting I selected with the music of this recording in mind. The subject first appeared on the program notes of l'Escamoteur, a 1994 concert in Quebec City. In Ex-Voto's liner notes (rant 1140/2011), I described this small painting as follows 'a half human, half makotron, in metamorphosis, half submerged, shipwrecked'. Following the stormy adventures of our last recording, the Makotron Unit finds himself, here, in an organic new world. With Effugit, the heart and soul of the trio are escaping. Free, out of the shade, the unique language of the trio comes to light and startles. - Michel Lambert.
