The Luddites are a 11-piece acoustic band, equipped with guitars & percussion, lots of voices, and a sassy horn section. Winners of seven Detroit Music Awards, their sound is warm: a mix of rock, swing, and gypsy-like folk. The Luddites' live show is rock, but reminiscently cabaret. The Luddites take their name from a rabble of desperate English textile workers who, in the earliest days of the Industrial Revolution, took to smashing factory machines in an effort to preserve the ideals of humanity and craftsmanship. Today's Luddites are no less rebellious, shunning electronic trappings and embracing all things wood.
