    近衛騎兵隊の軍楽隊がデッカに残したアルバムの復刻。...

    近衛騎兵隊の軍楽隊がデッカに残したアルバムの復刻。 W.ジャクソン少佐指揮、ライフ・ガーズ＆ロイヤル・ホースガーズ軍楽隊による合同での演奏。 また、一部の曲には高地銃兵連隊バグパイプ＆ドラムスが参加している。 このCDは録音の前年に行われたアメリカツアーでの演奏曲を中心にピックアップされた物。 軍楽隊が得意とする行進曲から、映画音楽までを幅広く収録。 今ではあまり演奏機会に恵まれない曲もあるから貴重だ。 演奏は合同演奏なので、力強くなっているが、時折個々の奏者の名人芸や美しい音色が聴けるなど、なかなかの名演。 良く聴き慣れた行進曲でも違った印象を受ける。 録音もさすがデッカ、大変鮮明だ。
