Product Description

Contains 6 bonus tracks, including non-LP singles and tracks from the "New Toy" EP and the "No-Man's Land" LP. A total of 35 tracks, originally released by Stiff records (UK), are divided between this re-issue and that of "Stateless".
Includes liner notes by Lene Lovich and Jim Green.
Flexing her new wave muscle, Lene Lovich and partner Les Chappel followed up their hit first album with this pure slice of electronic pop in 1979. With lead vocal whoops resembling a boppy Yoko Ono (Lovich had started her entertainment career as a "professional screamer" in British horror flicks), FLEX's most famous tracks ruled the late '70s and early '80s dance floors.
Opening with the dreamy "Bird Song," FLEX relies heavily on layered keyboards and saxophone. While mostly Lovich/Chappel originals are included here, there are some surprising covers, including the Four Seasons' "The Night." Two Judge Smith numbers add extra humor value--"What Will I Do Without You," and "You Can't Kill Me." The album's highlight is the Thomas Dolby-penned song "New Toy," worth the price of the whole CD. One of the most outstanding recordings of the new wave era, "New Toy" has all the hallmarks of a truly memorable pop song-great rhythm, melody, lyrics--and naturally it sounds better the louder you blast it. Crank it up and dance.
