リー・コニッツ（Lee Konitz 1927年10月13日＆#12316;）はアメリカ合衆国イリノイ州シカゴ生まれのジャズ・アルトサックス奏者、作曲家。アルバムは1949年と50年の録音で「Subconscious / 潜在意識」と哲学的なタイトル。何といっても共演者の顔ぶれが印象深い。ピアノに師匠のレニー・トリスターノとサル・モスカ、テナーのウォーレン・マーシュなどクール派の集結。同時期にマイルスの「Birth of the Cool」の九重奏団にリー・コニッツは参加しているが同じクールでも全く趣が異なりジャズの多様性を感じる。

konitzといったら、これです。何せキャリアが長く、今も現役のため作品数は膨大。でも、konitzはこれなんです。もうどうしょうもないです。パーカーも存命中なほど古い録音ですが、この音は空前絶後であり、ジャズがこの世から無くならない限り永遠に輝き続ける宝玉です。
