Lalu is a new heavy progressive music project in the vein of acts like Dream Theater, Evergrey and Sun Caged. Keyboardist and band leader Vivien Lalu (Hubi Meisel) has gathered a killer line up for this debut release, entitled Oniric Metal, with Joop Wolters on guitar, the mighty Ryan Van Poederooyen (Devin Towsend Band) on drums, Martin LeMar on vocals and Russell Bergquist (ex-Annihilator) on bass. Oniric Metal combines excellent production values with strong melodies and exciting dynamics.

フランス出身のヴィヴィアン・ラルー(key)によるソロプロジェクト。音楽はオーケストレーションを含んだ壮大なプログレ・メタルだが、脇を固めるミュージシャン達も技巧派で、その腕には確かなものがある。オープニングからハイテンションなメタルでGソロも素晴らしい。じっくりと聴かせるNo.2や、さらにラストは壮大なナンバーで18分の大作に挑戦しながらもムリヤリ曲を繋げたような小細工は見当たらないし、彼らの実力が垣間見える1曲だ。へヴィ・メタル専門誌のレビューにも書いてあったが、Keyのソロのためか、優雅な雰囲気も醸し出されていると思う。これなら日本発売されても全くおかしくない。
