70’sプログレからの流れで最初に聴いたのがアウトバーン。時は90年代初頭でした。 楽曲は良かったのですが、その当時の音楽シーンからして、アナログ満載のサウンドはさすがに古臭かった。 よって、このアルバムは私には合い、オリジナルより好みでした。 その後エレクトロニカに更にハマり、今回の再発盤を聴くと更なる時代の流れかな、古く感じてしまう。最先端技術を導入するエレクトロの運命か・・・。 アナログ電子楽器を生演奏していた彼らが、元音源をデータ化しPC制御するというスタイルへ変更した、記念すべき1枚目です。 このスタイルで、オリジナルのアナログ感を再現したMinimum-maximumと共に好きなアルバムです。

［続き］一見（一聴？）チープな音の組み合わせだが、トータルしてみると非常にディープな曲が次々と繰り出され、本当に飽きがこない。

このCDが発表された当時、ある音楽雑誌で、「この作品はリミックスアルバムというより、むしろオリジナルアルバムとして作られたのではないだろうか。」という記述があったのを思い出す。正にその通りだと思う。過去の作品に新しい音が加わり、大胆なアレンジが施され、非常に新鮮な気持ちでリズムに身をゆだねることができる傑作である。曲順・曲間もよく考えられており、特にTrans Europe Expressを含む３曲のメドレーは、１つの作品としても良くまとめられており、アルバム中最大の聞き所ではないかと思う。
