His diamond hard yakety solos were crucial to the rock and roll success story of the Coasters, and King's instantly recognizable horn graced countless more 50's and 60's R&B platters as both bandleader and sideman. His presence in the jazz field was also solid as he built a reputation at the turn of the decade as a serious saxophone player.
