Kevin began singing in Southern Alberta performing with a 12-voice male chorus followed by years of live theatre and choral performance with the University of Lethbridge and The University of British Columnia Singers. Ultimately Kevin verged into the realm of solo music when his medical studies became too rigorous to commit to group performances. Relocating to Halifax from Vancouver in 2007, Kevin has spent the last 5 years as a plastic surgery resident at Dalhousie University. Performing under pressure and coping with the demands of a busy residency has brought out the best in his musical abilities - acting as a creative outlet and a means of striking balance to his hectic schedule. On Empty is the culmination of his experience - reaching beyond the physical limitations of his daily life to the inner sanctum of his soul. The songs are a balanced collaboration of Kevin's songwriting abilities and Jason Mingo's musical creativity. 'Talk About It' is a modern yet retrospective look on youth with a call out to Kevin's choral roots. The upbeat 'Running On Empty' features electrifying organ by Kim Dunn while the subdued 'Everything Happens for a Reason' features renowned cellist Kevin Fox. The stunning Meaghan Smith adds her contribution with co-writing and guest vocals on 'Start Over Tonight'. Rounding off the 10 tracks is a heartfelt tribute to Kevin's wife of 10 years - 'Renae' On Empty is an honest and engaging debut album from this promising new artist.
