Acclaimed Roots/Blues/Crossover artist/writer/vocalist/keyboardist Kelley Hunt unveils a stunning new generation of her music on MERCY - an intentional, intense collision between Hunt's righteous roots influences and contemporary overlays with rich veins of social and political commentary threading throughout. On MERCY there are great new songs from Hunt's pen and intriguing collaborations with writers Gary Nicholson, Dwight Liles, Jim Ritchey and Caryn Mirriam Goldberg. As usual Hunt covers considerable ground and crosses boundaries - there are funk grooves, rootsy neo-rock anthems, intense ballads, mournful blues plaints, latin-influenced introspections, alt-boogie and even New Orleans feels all channeled with rock-solid validity through Hunt's identity to make her various points on MERCY. The track Mountain to Move is the closing title track for acclaimed indie feature filmmaker Kevin Willmott's sci-fi political western Bunker Hill. Joining keyboardist Hunt on the project are a host of outstanding musicians - original Funk Brother bassist Bob Babbitt, celebrated guitarist/producer Colin Linden (Blackie & the Rodeo Kings), wickedly versatile roots drummer Bryan Owings (Shelby Lynne, Buddy Miller), blazing young guitar virtuoso Rob McNelley (Delbert McClinton), Hammond B3 master Mark Jordan (Van Morrison, Buddy Guy, Bonnie Raitt and many others).
