Product Description

Joss Stone's second album is almost entirely co-written by Joss herself presenting a new side to the girl with one of the most powerful voices in music. The album was produced by soul legend Betty Wright and Mike Mangini (who were also at the helm for debut album ‘The Soul Sessions') and contains writing collaborations with Lamont Dozier on ‘Spoiled' and Beth Gibbon (Portishead) on ‘Killing Time'.

Joss herself says. “ for me, personally, ‘Mind, Body & Soul' is my real debut ” and after one listen you can be in no doubt that this is the record that she was born to make. Powerful, personal and full of emotion this is one of the outstanding soul albums of 2004.

最近聴きました。たしかにモータウンとフィリーの融合とは面白い表現かも。必然に当時のサウンドになっていますよね。だから聴き方によっては過去のモータウン・サウンド・アーティストの今風の焼き直しにも聴こえてしまう。しかし彼女自身の持っている声には驚嘆。まだ若いから天性の歌唱力で歌っているけれど、MARY J.BLIGEのように自身の苦労が歌に反映されたらより良いと思う。話題だけで終わらず、息の長いアーティストになって欲しい。

感情がほとばしり、押さえ切れない。唸りを込めて、囁いて、歌い上げて。まだティーンとは思えない。カウ゛ァーアルバムの出来もすばらしく、今作は非常にソウルフルながらコンテンポラリーを打ち出しているとはいえ、バックは生演奏。こういうソウルを待っていた！

なんといっても声が素敵！！ただ、どの曲も彼女の声に合っていて良いと思いますが、You Had Meのようなアップテンポの曲を増やしてアルバムとしてのバランスをとって欲しかったです。 次は最高を期待しています☆★
