Product Description

Digitally remastered edition of this album from Yes vocalist Jon Anderson and Greek composer and musician Vangelis. Private Collection is the third album released by Jon and Vangelis, released in 1983 on Polydor Records. He is Sailing was released as a single shortly before the album. The song Polonaise was written under the influence of events that took place in Poland a little earlier (martial law). The song is dedicated to Poles.

私はクラシック専門で、特にブルックナーや晩年のＲ．シュトラウスやＲＶＷを良く聴くが、クラシック以外に二枚愛聴しているCDがある。その一枚がこれ。聴いていて本当に癒されるが、特にデボラのコーダやホライズンの１１分くらいから１３分くらいの部分など気が遠くなる程美しい。クラシック音楽の名曲と言われるものの中にもこれよりつまらない音楽はいくらもある。

隠れた名盤です。たまにテレビ番組のバッグミュージックでもこのアルバムの曲が流れますが、その時には思わずニヤリとしてしまいます。あまりにも美しく優しいジョンの歌声とメロディに心は癒しの世界に旅立ちます。

Horizonは名曲です。LPではB面全てが割り当てられた大曲ですが、不安感を抱かせる雰囲気のイントロ、怒涛のごとく押しまくる中間部から天国に導かれるかのように締めくくるラストと、曲の構成が素晴らしくあっという間に終わってしまいます。エレクトリックサウンドに妙に溶け込んでいるジョンの美声が素敵。
