Shangri-la

John started writing songs while working as a house painter in Crested Butte, Colorado. He moved to Los Angeles and worked on a couple films, won some awards at festivals and then returned to graduate school to study creative writing in Mississippi. After a six year career in his home town of Baltimore, he currently lives in Los Angeles. John Mancini Band began in 2007 when John teamed up with drummer Tom Haller. JMB toured the Mid-Atlantic region for six years, weathering a few line-up changes and producing two full-length albums and one EP. They won awards from Billboard and Relix magazines, landed film placements for their songs and enjoyed AAA radio airplay around the country and even overseas. After a 2012 side project under the name Ancient Americans, John returned to an acoustic format and released Shangri-la, JMB's fourth studio effort, featuring band members past and present.
