Music has always been part of my life since the days when my father brought home various classical LPs and Jazz LPs for my mother. I was privileged to have a mother, who was not only a musician but also an avid listener and lover of music. Influenced by such nurturing environment for music, I fell in love with Jazz and it's limitless ability to imagine, improvise and absorb other genres of music. GO is both a reflection of my past as well as my aspirations for the future. Enriched with music inspired from different walks of life and parts of the world, such as Joga (Bjork), and Korean Folk song, I try to express my understanding as well as visions for my music. To express my immense joy and passion in music, I've added jovial yet playful numbers like Easy Song, and Notes and rests. Composition like Infinite Patience has a profound importance on both personal and technical level. In the piece, I try to convey the philosophical virtues of patience harmonically using various keys. I came up with the title of my album while I was exchanging emails with Greg during the initial recording sessions. In between the lines of each email, Greg would write GO and some times GO JB! Initially I thought he was shouting GO! as in cheering my work. Later did I find out that GO was only referring to his name! G for Greg and O for Osby! Months later when I was done with the recordings, even though I knew what GO really meant, I went ahead with GO as the title for my album. I loved the fact that, GO as much as it means get going or move, in my English dictionary, it also means Greg Osby, whom I am indebted for being the guiding light and inspiration to my music.
