ジャネット最大の名作 ブラックミュージック全体で見ても相当なレベルに位置するとおもいます そのディープな世界観はジャネットの心の中を覗いたかのよう

ジャネットの全アルバム中、一番アーティスティックな作品だと思います。前二作ほどの勢いは感じられませんが、内容がかなり濃い気がします。前作で全面的に開花した彼女のセックス論を今作では更に追求していて、同性愛をテーマにする曲まであるわけで。セールス的にはControlからの三枚には及ばずも、このアルバムこそ彼女の代表作、と称する評論家が多いのも意外と頷ける感じがします。決して聴き易い作品ではありませんが、全曲怠くなることなく聴き通せられる秀作です！

完成度はメガヒット・アルバムとなった「Rhythm Nation」に引けをとらないほどの傑作。シングル・ヒットが並ぶ訳ではないが、ドラマ性を感じさせる流れを持ち、ジャネットにとって最高のコンセプト・アルバムという言い方も出来よう。個々の楽曲の持つ雰囲気や香りという点においても比類なきできばえ。
