Camembert Electrique is an album by Gong, recorded and originally released in 1971. The album was recorded at Chteau d'Hrouville near Paris, France, produced by Pierre Latts and engineered by Gilles Salle. Jean Karakos (credited in Daevid Allen's liner notes as Byg Jean Kastro Kornflakes) was executive producer.

GONGのラジオノーム３部作の前に発表されたエッセンス。サイケとカンタベリー系ロックの中和感がこの年代を象徴しています。男女の愛から宗教的な愛へとつながるエキセントリックな表現はさすが、巨匠D・アレンさんです。お経にも似たコミカルなヴォーカルも今聴くと新鮮です。お薦めです。

Gongは“YOU”にたいする評価が圧倒的だが、あのアルバムはドラッグ・カルチャー倦怠期の産物でもあり、ピエール・ムーランはバンドのそういう雰囲気を露骨に嫌っていたという。72年にHawkwindらと行なったライヴがあるが、トライバルな、実にGongらしい演奏だった。どうも自分にとっては“YOU”のジャズロック/テクノ路線の硬質なサウンドよりもこの頃のほうがしっくり来る。
