At the very end of 2001, Grant Nicholas confessed that despite the breakthrough success of 'Echo Park', he'd already written ten songs he considered his best ever. The result? - 'Comfort In Sound'. The culmination of six months studio productivity - Grant and bassist Taka Hirose choosing to work with Gil Norton (Pixies, Foo Fighters) for the second consecutive album, whilst old friend Mark Richardson (ex-Skunk Anansie) filled in on drums after the tragic death of original drummer Jon Lee - 'Comfort' takes in everything from bruising sleaze-rock ('Helium', 'Godzilla'), to gentle electronica ('Child In You') and glorious string-laden epics ('Forget About Tomorrow'). Regardless of the year's tragic events, if ever there was a place where Feeder could be said to be the most at home it would be bathed in waves of glorious guitar noise and mercurial melody lines. Includes the single 'Come Back Around'.

CDで聴いて『なかなかいいバンドだね』 SACDステレオで聴いて『カッコいいバンドだ！』 SACDマルチチャンネルで聴いて『すげーカッコいいバンドだ！！』ファンはSACDで聴くと感涙ものかと

ジョンの死で何かが変わったのか、フィーダーの「コンフォートインサウンド」以降の音、一音一音に「哀愁」的なものが潜んでいるように聞こえる。「コンフォートインサウンド」「サマーズ・ゴーン」などはシングル級の泣き名曲だし「ムーンシャイン」も壮大な美しい旋律の中に悲しみが込められているように感じる。聴いているだけでは英詩は理解できないが、この曲はジョンの死に泣き、それでも前進していく事を見守っていて欲しいと歌われている気がしてならない。個人的には「ムーンシャイン」。生涯のフェイバリットソングです。
