No Place To Go

NO PLACE TO GO the show is a musical ode to the unemployed commissioned by Joe's Pub through the National Endowment of the Arts. Written by Ethan Lipton with music by Ethan Lipton & his Orchestra (Eben Levy, Ian M Riggs and Vito Dieterle), the show was directed by Leigh Silverman and produced by the Public Theater in 2012. The show tells the story of a man whose company is relocating to Mars and taking his job with it. Part love letter to his co-workers, part query to the universe, part protest to company and country, No Place to Go delivers a hilarious, irreverent, personal and universal story in song. NO PLACE TO GO the album is a studio recording of the songs from that show. Eben (guitar, loops on 'Soccer Song'), Ian (bass, guitar on 'Aging Middle-Class Parents'), Vito (sax) and Ethan made all the sounds on it. The album was engineered and produced by Huck Bennert and recorded in Ditmas Park, Brooklyn (special thanks to Matt Berninger, Carin Besser and The National). Mark Donohue mastered at SoundMirror. Heather Phelps-Lipton took the pics and designed the artwork. Shanta Thake got the ball rolling on this project and there aren't enough thanks for her.
