Product Description

On Yesterday's Blues, the second album from David Higgins, the first thing you'll notice is a classic rock edge to the music. Thundering drums and energy-filled feedback guitars greet the opening seconds of 'Don't Come Around.' From there, the album takes off in a dynamic swirl ranging into rock and roll statement songs like 'What I Want To Sing,' 'Staring at the Sun,' and 'Don't Come Around.' Taking his cue from rock icons like Neil Young & Crazy Horse, The Allman Bros, and The Black Crowes, these songs have an Americana-Rock sound that would slide right in with the best music from the Classic Rock era. But the album isn't all just thunder. 'Brown Eyes, Blue Skies' instantly brings the album into a Sunday morning groove, laying down a peaceful, folksy vibe not unlike some of the best moments from the Grateful Dead's American Beauty era. Confessional ballads like 'Eventually' and 'I Don't Mind the Rain' remind listeners of acoustic singer-songwriters, while the exceptional lyrics in songs like 'Queen of California' and the album-closing title track are reminiscent of the imagery presented by masters like Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell. David has a range of influences, and he represents them well on Yesterday's Blues.
