かつてボイド・レイバーン楽団で脚光を浴びながらも、一時シーンから退いていたデヴィッド・アレンが、1950年代後半にワールド・パシフィック・レコードから鮮烈なカムバックを果たした2枚の傑作をカップリング。1枚目の『A Sure Thing』ではジョニー・マンデルの美しい編曲をバックにジェローム・カーンの名曲を歌い上げ、その豊かで滑らかなバリトン・ボイスは「驚異的なフレージングと息の長さ」と絶賛を浴びた。続く『Let's Face the Music and Dance』ではビル・ホルマン率いるオーケストラを従え、温かみのあるスウィング感と深い歌詞解釈を披露。 impeccableな音楽性と稀有な表現力で、当時「歌手が聴くべき歌手」とまで称えられたアレンの真髄が、24ビット・デジタル・リマスタリングで瑞々しく蘇る。
