Ryan Adams ('Butterly In Reverse') and Sheryl Crow ('American Girls') are amongst the artists who pop up as guests on 'Hard Candy', Counting Crows' hugely-anticipated fourth studio LP. Produced by Steve Lillywhite (U2, Dave Matthews Band), the album doesn't so much depart from, as further develop, the sound defined by the Crows on their last outing, 1999's 'This Desert Life'. Adam Duritz's recognizably emotive vocals and the Crows' richly textured folk-rock arrangements remain very much to the fore on tracks such as 'Hard Candy', 'Miami' and 'Good Time'; elsewhere 'New Frontier' and 'Carriage' explore the down-home heart of American pop via some wondrously pastoral pop melodies. Includes the single 'American Girl'.

Fantastic album - Counting crows keep getting better and better, Adam’s Lyrics are as brilliant as ever and the music is so melodic that you realise this is what music is about. Buy this album - it’ll be the best money you’ll ever spend.
