Sweet Memories

I'm very excited to present this album to you all, as everyone has memories that are sweet to reminisce over. Sweet Memories was written about my now deceased grandmother who spent her last years at my parent's house. The song paints a picture of the final years of her life on this side of Jordan, and is the song of many that have their loved ones waiting on the other side. I was inspired to write What Are You Living For when traveling down to my parents in south central Indiana. As the song says, we were on highway 109 where there was a fine old house and beside it a barn falling in on itself. Seeing this made me realize that the worries and cares of this world are quite useless. They don't add to our quality of life and have no power to save us. Money, power, and fame are moot after we leave this world. Even if we are remembered as a great person, it is only a benefit to those that we leave behind. There is One who we benefit to be remembered by, our Creator. I want to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus, for the privilege to be able to record this album with a great team. Thank you Orie, Sharon, Nelson, my dear wife Rosetta, and the studio crew, Jared, Jacob, and Steve. You guys know how to make a person feel at home! Thanks guys! A special thank you to Russell for some cool pedal steel and dobro tracks and great advice. You know your stuff! Stephen and Rosetta Schmidt We thank God for the blessings he has given us, and for the many times he has protected us when we have not even realized it. We thank Him for the opportunity to do this album; without Him calling the shots, none of this would have been possible. I wrote the song Heaven on this album in honor of my sister, Dorinda C. Conley who was taken from us by an auto accident on November 22, 2009. We miss you greatly, think of you often, and look forward to the great reunion we will have someday. This is our best work up until now, and I believe we are just warming up! The Lord has given our band not only the ability to play and sing together, but also the blessing to be great friends and true brothers and sisters in Christ. Thanks to our band, Stephen, Rosetta, and Nelson for all your hard work. Thanks to Russell Easter and the crew for helping us get this album off and running like a fine tuned machine.
