Sundays In Belvedere

After playing the piano for 34 years, Carter Cook made his first trip to a studio in April of 2011 and recorded a dozen instrumental hymn arrangements. The resulting CD, 'Sundays In Belvedere,' was initially intended as a gift for his grandparents, who were married for over 70 years and members of Belvedere First Baptist Church in Aiken County, South Carolina, for even longer. Inspired by favorable early reviews and by the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30), Carter decided to make the album available to a larger audience with the hope of helping those in need (Matthew 25:31-46). Carter launched the Piano vs. Poverty project in May of 2011 and began selling the album, donating 100% of any music-related income after expenses to charitable organizations involved in the fight against poverty. Half of those donated funds go to agencies with a focus on global issues, and half to those addressing local needs. In May of 2012 Piano vs. Poverty because a nonprofit corporation itself, and encourages others to use their talents to assist those in need. Carter Cook lives with his wife (who joins him as a duet partner on two songs on the album) and three children in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he works as a corporate attorney and is a volunteer youth basketball, soccer and baseball coach. In his free time, he enjoys playing the piano.
