Unfinished Business

Unfinished Business is the first release as a singer/songwriter of bassist, producer and studio-owner Carsten Hlscher. Some of his best friends are musicians and so you can hear some of the best players from Germany and the Netherlands and on this record. Carsten says in the album's sleeve notes: 'Here are a couple of songs I wrote during the last seven years but never took the time to finish, as producing other bands in my studio and learning about recording and mixing was my first goal during that time. (besides it is not particulary helpful to own your own studio, as you tend to stretch things out when there is no pressure and you have nearly unlimited studio time) Now however, I have reached a point (also in my personal life) where finishing these songs is necessary to create room for new ideas and move on to new ground.' You will hear Carsten's main influences and experience from Jazz to Pop and Folk music in these five very well recorded tracks. Steely Dan, Paul Simon, James Taylor and the early Brian Wilson are clearly under his favourite songwriters. With all his experience from playing in Jazz- and Soul-bands he creates a distinguished mix of styles and adds his own view and taste to them.
