色々とクラシックに詳しいわけではないのですが、若いころに聴いた ジョージ・セル指揮（クリーブランド）の「新世界」に、何故か強く惹かれ、今まで聴いた「新世界」とはまるで違うと感じ、それ以来ジョージ・セルのファンです。 他の方々のような専門的なことは何も知らないのですが、とにかく聴いていると心が潤う気がします。 一枚ずつ、ゆっくりと堪能したいと思います。 こんなに色んな分野に渡っての演奏が手元にあること、なんと贅沢な幸せでしょう。

ＳＯＮＹの１０６枚組巨大ボックスと比べると、コンパクトで一見地味に見えますが、演奏のよさは、勝るとも劣らないと思います。こちらのボックスの特筆すべき点は、超弩級の共演者で、カザルス（ドボルザーク）、ギレリス（ベートーヴェン）、シュナーベル（ブラームス）、オイストラフとロストロポーヴィチ（ブラームス）、シュヴァルツコップとディースカウ（マーラー、Ｒ．シュトラウス）といったところ。名盤として有名なドボルザークの交響曲第8番も含まれており、必聴のボックスと言えると思います。
