Product Description

Bluerace consider themselves a creative factory of songwriters first and foremost, and have been a working partnership for some time now. The analogy of the 'factory' is this: One of the members will come in with a song, or an idea for a song, and the other members will all add their distinct musical ideas, personalities and parts to it - typically changing the song into something completely different in the process, but something that is uniquely Bluerace. The four musical personalities can be explained something like this. Roger, the group's lead guitarist, is also their secret weapon, with solos that blast the music into the stratosphere and back again. After a half century of rock guitar god-dom Roger still finds a way to say something new, and to extend the influence of his own favored gods into a signature style all his own. Thom has been writing songs since he was a kid, and typically writes all over the place - from quiet and pretty to stomping, screaming noise (which explains some of the eclecticism of this album and the group's music as a whole). He also says he tries to live up to Joni Mitchell's maxim every time he sits down to write a lyric: 'Do not write a cliche.' (And sorry... cdbaby's system wouldn't let us put the accent over the 'e' in cliche!) Dean is the pop-meister of the group, who comes up with all the great hooks and quirky and original song ideas. He is also a great bass player - and so you have to listen beneath the vocals and into the mix and give the man his due. Finally, Vic is the rock-solid drummer who drives the band in ways no one else could. He is also one of the best background vocalists around - not just in terms of hitting his parts but coming up with some way cool parts in the first place. As you'll hear. (And maybe the band ought to let him sing up front in the future!) But all of this is just words. You have to listen. And we hope you will.
